[it wasn't just that, and they both have to know it. if it weren't for leon, he may have done a lot of reckless things, and it wasn't just the fact that leon would talk sense to him.
it's the fact that he assured stahn. the fact that he told him not to be scared because it wouldn't last forever. the fact that he promised not to leave and kept his word, the fact that he stood by stahn's side on this even after stahn himself had lost control.
stahn only managed to keep himself together as much as he did because of leon's help.]
You did a lot, so... this is just something I really want to do in return.
[He doesn't want to think about it that way. He doesn't want to think about it in ways of Stahn owing him anything, in ways of him having done some great deed.
Because he didn't.
He didn't at all, and if he did anything for Stahn, he's still just repaying the debt for all of the things Stahn's done for him.]
Right. Just... let me know when you're hungry, then!
[he doesn't want to bother leon too much so he's just going to... well, go off to do what else he wanted to do that day, which is just send out a few texts to check on his friends.
and wait.
really anxiously because there's definitely a difference in the air for him that he can't quite place.
(he's pretty sure it's just him, that it's just his guilt about what happened clouding his judgment, but he has no way of telling... especially not when dymlos seems to mostly respond to him with little more than skeptical noises. thanks, dymlos.)]
[And Leon... goes back to his book. Nothing about Stahn's behavior ever struck him as particularly off, either, so he doesn't have any of the tension that poor Stahn does.
And slowly...time passes.... until it's around time for dinner.
Except Leon doesn't appear!! And doesn't call for Stahn!!!
What could be happening!!
... He could've passed out on the couch, book still on his lap but head lolling to the side.
That could've been what happened. (He was really tired.)]
[he gives leon the benefit of the doubt for a while. maybe he's engrossed in his book...
or maybe he's just not hungry.
but eventually, it's stahn's hunger that gets the better of him, so he leaves the room to go seek leon out.
and.
...oh.
leon's... sleeping?
he really must have been tired, which stahn knew. but for him to fall asleep like that—it makes it really hard for stahn to wake him. he's hungry, but not hungry enough to wake leon to eat. they can go out when he wakes up, or another day; he can just eat an apple or something for now.
but stahn doesn't really want to leave him that way, so he's quiet in moving as he finds a blanket that he can drape over leon—though not before at least trying to get the book out of his lap. he's trying here.]
[Quiet as Stahn is, this isn't a very comfortable position to have fallen asleep in, and Leon's always been a light sleeper; when the book is taken away, his hand slides to his lap instead, and when the blanket is draped over him, he stirs a little, slowly and blearily.
He shifts, blinking tiredly, and glances around in that same, typical bleary-eyed confusion that follows anyone having woken up from a surprise nap.
[stahn laughs a little awkwardly as he realizes that leon is waking up; maybe it's not surprising because leon has always been a light sleeper. still, he looks a bit apologetic because he was trying his best to not disturb him.]
[He looks a little sour at that realization, shoving the blanket off of him and running his fingers through his hair somewhat blearily.]
It was to be dinner, was it not? [He tries to discreetly rub at one of his eyes, shaking off the lingering sleep.] I suppose we had ought to leave now.
We can put it off if you want to rest more, it's okay.
[he feels kind of bad, because leon must have been really tired to fall asleep when he hadn't even intended it.
that's not normal for leon, and stahn knows that it's partially because he was so demanding in his needs thanks to how reckless and restless he was feeling.]
[stahn still feels kind of bad for waking him, but if leon is going to insist on it, then he knows he can't really do much to argue it at all.
but stahn will lead the way anyway... even if it's slightly awkward silence made more awkward by the fact that dymlos is judging the ever-loving shit out of this encounter right now.]
[he'll just try to keep the atmosphere pretty light, though it definitely still feels kind of weird to stahn. but he's trying his best to make things up to leon, so he should keep this positive, right?
right.
even though dymlos is judging the hell out of this because after the last few days, this has a very specific look—even if dymlos is aware that stahn is completely oblivious to that.]
I'll try to keep dinner pretty quick, if you want to rest earlier. It's kind of my fault anyway...
Oh! There's this place that I always pass when I go to work that I never... really had a chance to go to, but it looks really good!
[a half-truth, he checked out what the desserts were like—and leon may understand what spurred it on when they get there, because... really, it's just a pretty small cafe with the normal foods in it—the window display shows things like paninis, and both savory and sweet crepes...
It looks pretty good, right? I've never seen anything like it before, but it looks too big for just one person to eat...
[it's definitely a dessert to be shared once they've eaten a real meal, but stahn's pretty set on this, and from the looks of it... leon probably won't be too opposed either, despite what he may end up saying.]

... Enough of this already. I agreed, didn't I?
no subject
[since leon seemed a bit puzzled at first and stahn is doing a pretty terrible job at articulating himself in just about every way.]
no subject
[This is too overwhelming...he's not ready for Stahn Gratitude.]
Was there anything else?
no subject
Not really... we can go whenever you want, but I think that's all...
no subject
[He turns back to his book.]
For dinnertime.
[Leon why are you impossible to get along with.]

Stahn...?

[stahn laughs a little awkwardly as he realizes that leon is waking up; maybe it's not surprising because leon has always been a light sleeper. still, he looks a bit apologetic because he was trying his best to not disturb him.]
I didn't mean to wake you.

No, no. We may as well go.
[Leon shakes his head, running his hand through his hair briefly before he nods.
ONWARDS.]

[stahn still feels kind of bad for waking him, but if leon is going to insist on it, then he knows he can't really do much to argue it at all.

Instead...he's just straightening his slightly rumpled clothing, rubbing a hand over his face again, and nodding.]
Very well then. Lead the way.
[He assumes that Stahn just found a new place to eat and that's why he's being insistent on it.]

no subject
[He won't deny that he's tired, and sleeping early would be a good idea.
But dinner is dinner, and that's what he's focused on right now.]
Where are we going?
no subject
[a half-truth, he checked out what the desserts were like—and leon may understand what spurred it on when they get there, because... really, it's just a pretty small cafe with the normal foods in it—the window display shows things like paninis, and both savory and sweet crepes...
and a lot of these, which.
is the main draw here.]
no subject
But yeah, Leon doesn't really get it until they do gget there--and then his eyes are drawn to the sweets.
Because.
They look amazing, and he can't quite help how fascinated he is.]
no subject
[it's definitely a dessert to be shared once they've eaten a real meal, but stahn's pretty set on this, and from the looks of it... leon probably won't be too opposed either, despite what he may end up saying.]
no subject
[Sure, we'll go with that.
No, he's totally fascinated by the pictures, okay... he's just trying to pretend otherwise.]
no subject
Mm-mm! Let's go in and check it out! [he's determined to make this a good outing because things have been so not good.]
no subject
[It is just muttered, though, because a moment later he's following Stahn into the restaurant.
Progress!]
no subject
which, naturally, leaves stahn in deep contemplation of what to order.
(everything looks really good, okay.)]
